I’m an evolutionary anthropologist/human behavioural ecologist/evolutionary demographer/evolutionary feminist (depending on the day of the week) with a particular interest in female reproductive decision making and maternal wellbeing. I use evolutionary theory to bring insights into contemporary human behaviour. I primarily study people in WEIRD – Western, Educated, Industrialised, Rich, and Democratic – contexts; but I also work on women’s health in small-scale settings, e.g. collaborating with researchers working with the Agta of the Philippines, the Arsi Oromo of Ethiopia.
